Ideal Sectors endorse the natural assets of a location and promote the preservation (or redevelopment) of green ecosystems such as forests, water bodies, and habitats of endangered species. The dominant mode of contemporary urban development produces urban space and consumes nature. In contrast, Ideal Sector development embarks on strategies to create parallel opportunities for settlements and for the natural environment. In many instances this implies shifting priorities to focus on planning for the protection and re-development of natural assets and green networks, while treating the remaining urban fabric as the structure.
