The ability to offer a diversity of opportunities is what makes some cities better then others. IDEAN urbanism stands out because of its capacity to spawn opportunities for innovation. Its principles generate social, economic, ecological, cultural, political, and spatial prospects. The thinking relates to Amartya Sen‘s and Martha Nussbaum‘s 1993 capability approach aiming at enhancing collective opportunity.
