Paligada city is named after a local village in the project area. The project presents a model for a well organised, dense, and aesthetically inspiring urbanisation pattern. Paligada City celebrates civic values and public space, offering an alternative to the homogeneity and anonymity of the usual suburbs. The scheme is inspired by city models based on public boulevards, city squares, and grand parks. Privacy is confined to the inside of buildings. A hard shell of light industries and commercial uses frames and protects the ‚soft‘ core of the sector with residences and public amenities. The mix of social classes occurs at the block level. A zone for culture and education and a civic park provide the heart of the arrangement. All typologies have been adapted to the local climate and the cultural context by allowing local ownership and control.
